INCREASE IN THERMOSTAT MAY INCREASE PRODUCTION
A recent study found that, the performance of women in completing verbal tasks and math were better at high temperatures. As the temperature increased, the performances were also found to be high.
This study was conducted at the University of Southern California. Nearly 550 students participated in this experiment. The experiment were spilted up into many sessions and for each session the room temperature was set to various ranges from 61°F to 91°F.
In each session, the participants were asked to complete math and verbal tasks within the given time. The tasks weren't complicated. They were very simple which was adding digits without calculators and word building from a given set of letters .
The author noticed that the performance of women were found to be high by an increase in the submission of answers at a given time. Likewise, the male cognitive performance were reduced but did not depend much on temperature as female performances.
A normal variation in temperature gave a meaningful result in the performances. So, temperature not only decided the comfort but also decides the productivity and performance.
So, if you want higher productivity just increase your office temperature to a certain extent and check it out!
